I graduated from Colorado University with my bachelor's degree in English in 2006, and finished student teaching fall of the same year. I have been teaching high school English since the fall of 2007. I have also been coaching the cheerleading team at our school since 2008. Two summers ago I began earning my master's degree from Fort Hays State University. I have eight papers to write this semester, so I can take my final two classes and take the master's exam. I made a deal with my husband that I would write six papers before I buy a serger. How's that for motivation?
I married my high school sweetheart, best friend, and love of my life, Adam, over Thanksgiving break in 2009. He is the perfect person to combat and pacify my craziness. He knows just how to calm and comfort me anytime I am upset, and he understands my need to talk to my mom and/or dad almost daily. Also, he is super hot! Last year, we renovated our condo (which took almost every spare moment we had). Now that I have so much free time (wink wink), I decided to start this blog.
I love everything to do with the crafting world! My mom instilled in me a love for creativity when I was a small child, and encouraged me to learn as much as possible in every part of life. My mom taught me how to sew lots if different items and bake a plethora of delicious dishes. In elementary school, my best friend and I would sew blankets and clothes for our American Girl dolls, and in high school, my mom taught me how to sew my own prom dresses (the first one she did, the second one we did, the last one, I did). I wanted to learn how to crotchet, so I bought a book and taught myself using the pictures. I also learned how to knit and quilt the same way. I just can't get enough of crafting, or learning how to do new things. I love a challenge, and usually I let my competitive side take over, so I do the best I possibly can.
I heart: handmade gifts, learning, crafting, flowers, baking, teaching, reading a book from cover to cover in one sitting, green beans, almost anything sweet, surprises, family, friends, hamburgers and fries, watching movies while crafting, finding a love note from my sweetheart, sunshine, the beach, cuddling, sleeping in, 80's music, frosting, condiments, rain on my skylight, shoes, nail polish, glitter/sparkles/shimmer, blankets, peppermint chapstick, crazy dancing, singing in the car, holidays, and colored pens.
Our consumer and family studies department was cut from my school last year, which I found really sad. I hope to help foster a love of all things creative with this blog. I would love to hear any ideas for new projects/posts, or anything that you are learning to do. My final reason for starting the blog is that I now have to create something on a regular basis (even if there is no other reason for it).
Come back soon!
